When opportunity meets preparation, success is inevitable—and that’s exactly what happened when Brandy Griffey, Business Services Consultant, partnered with Carroll Engineering to create a life-changing On-the-Job Training (OJT) opportunity through the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) program. Brandy had been working closely with local employers, identifying workforce needs and connecting businesses with talent through strategic partnerships. One of those connections was Carroll Engineering, a respected industry leader looking to expand its skilled workforce. With Brandy’s guidance, Carroll Engineering enrolled in the WIOA program and agreed to participate in the OJT initiative, designed to help eligible individuals receive hands-on training in real-world settings while earning a wage. That’s when Career Advisor Beth Edwards stepped in. Beth was working with a client who showed exceptional potential but needed industry-specific training to compete in a competitive job market. Recognizing the perfect match, Beth collaborated with Brandy to prepare the client for the opportunity at Carroll Engineering. Thanks to Brandy’s coordination, Carroll Engineering’s willingness to invest in local talent, and Beth’s support, the client was placed in an OJT position. Not only did they gain invaluable, paid experience, but they also grew into a full-time, skilled employee—strengthening both their personal career path and the company’s workforce.

This success story is a testament to what’s possible when collaboration, community, and commitment come together. Brandy Griffey’s proactive outreach, Beth Edwards’ client advocacy, and Carroll Engineering’s investment in training created a ripple effect of success through the WIOA program—empowering one individual, strengthening a business, and supporting a stronger local economy.
